RB Leipzig will be signing Benjamin Sesko from their sister club RB Salzburg in Austria next year. Several clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea were interested in signing the forward this summer. But, Salzburg were clear about their intention of not selling him in 2022.
Now, an agreement is in place to keep him in the Red Bull group. So, he will be playing in the German Bundesliga next season, with a five-year contract in place for him once he makes the move. The deal will be completed between the two Red Bull clubs this week.
Benjamin Sesko and Timo Werner to lead the line for Leipzig
Timo Werner is expected to return to RB Leipzig in the coming days, with a medical scheduled today. A sum in the region of €20-25 million has been quoted for the German, after a difficult spell in England.
Although he won the Champions League with Chelsea, he was unable to replicate his goalscoring records in London. And now, he is back to his former club, in an atmosphere where he can hopefully get back to his best ahead of the 2022 World Cup.
Leipzig are anticipating a departure for Christopher Nkunku next summer, even though they got the player to sign a new contract recently. As a result, Benjamin Sesko will be replacing the Frenchman in the line-up once he makes the switch to another European elite.
