The 37-year-old Portuguese superstar forward Cristiano Ronaldo is unavailable for the Manchester United practice this week.
Manchester United are now moving on to the second week of training for the preparation for the pre-season matches. The club has now confirmed through their official website that Ronaldo has been permitted to extend his leave due to family reasons.
In his return to the English Premier League club last season, while the Red Devils massively struggled, Ronaldo finished that season as their top scorer with 24 goals. The forward still has one year left in the present contract with the club.
Cristiano Ronaldo is unhappy with the Red Devils’ approach
Recently, strong media reports have suggested that Cristiano Ronaldo was highly disappointed with Manchester United’s recent progress in the ongoing summer transfer window. While the club has already seen some exits from the squad, the Red Devils have failed to sign at least one new player last June. In fact, the club has failed to put them in strong positions in several biddings.
Currently, Man United are trying their best to sign some top names, including Christian Eriksen and Frenkie de Jong. Eriksen is reportedly very close to joining Man United, but it is yet to be confirmed by the club.
Cristiano Ronaldo is happy with the new club manager Erik ten Hag. But due to the club’s recent lack of strong behaviour for the new season, Ronaldo has reportedly opened up his thought to consider his transfer in case of strong bids. Meanwhile, Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes is currently exploring options for Ronaldo. However, Manchester United have strongly claimed that Ronaldo is not for sale this season.
Chelsea are considering to go for CR7
In the meantime, The Athletic football correspondent David Ornstein has recently claimed that the English Premier League club Chelsea is considering putting bid for Ronaldo. While Man United are sticking with their plan of not selling Ronaldo, Chelsea are trying for their luck.
