Real Madrid have made a great new addition to their defence. They have signed Germany international Antonio Rudiger from Chelsea on a free transfer as his contract with the Premier League side ended this summer.
Today, on 20th June, Antonio Rudiger had his Real Madrid presentation, as previously confirmed. He signed his contract with the Los Blancos and was presented to the fans. Rudiger will wear the No 22 shirt at Real Madrid.

Rudiger said about taking the No 22 shirt: “I like the number 2, but Carvajal has it. So I had to choose between 12 or 22, and I chose the second. It’s not something I’ve given much thought to, honestly, I just liked it.”
The centre-back has signed a four-year deal until 2026 with the current Champions League winners, with no option to extend for a further year. Carlo Ancelotti was key to convincing him to sign for Real Madrid. Rudiger becomes the second signing of the season after Aurelien Tchouameni was unveiled a few days back.
Since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea, Rudiger has established himself as one of the best central defenders in the world. He was also named in this year’s Champions League team of the season, after winning the trophy last year with Chelsea. Real Madrid’s defence will be stronger now with the addition of Rudiger alongside Alaba, Militao and Nacho.
