Mario Gotze could be on the move from PSV this summer, with three key proposals available to him right now. The attacking midfielder has spent two seasons with the Dutch side, and won the KNVB Cup with them this past year.
He has a release clause in his contract worth €4 million, which could be activated by any of the three clubs in the race for him. His deal with PSV runs until 2024, following his renewal in 2021, and as a result, there is no rush on either side to secure a transfer away.
Mario Gotze could leave PSV this summer
The 30-year-old has been able to revive his career with PSV Eindhoven, after he left Borussia Dortmund. He made 51 appearances across all competitions this past season, racking up over 4000 minutes on the pitch.
He was also able to score eleven goals and provide as many assists – a feat he hasn’t been able to come close to since 13/14. The three offers available to Mario Gotze right now are from Eintracht Frankfurt, Benfica and Inter Miami in the MLS.
The former Germany international reportedly prefers a move to Benfica, which would allow him to reunite with former PSV coach Roger Schmidt. However, there is nothing advanced for the transfer as of yet and it is still a very open situation. The midfielder is set to announce his final decision in a matter of days.
