Top 10 Premier League players with the most expensive goals in 2021/22

The 2021/22 Premier League season has come to an end and all eyes are set not only on this season’s champions, but also the season’s top goal scorers. So among the Premier League players, who has netted the most expensive goals?

Interested in finding out, odds-comparison.com analysed the Premier League’s top scorers’ market value and number of goals scored this season to reveal who is worth the most per goal.

The Premier League player worth the most per goal is Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes. With a total of 10 goals this season and a market value of £81 million, each goal is worth £8.1 million.

In second place is Chelsea’s Mason Mount. With a total of 11 goals this season – Mount’s goals amount to over £6.1 million per goal, securing a potential £67.5 million in total goal value. 

Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling is worth over £5.8 million for each goal scored this season, placing him in third overall. 

Despite scoring the most goals this season (23), Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Spur’s Son Heung-Min placed ninth and 15th overall, with goals worth over £3.9 million and £3.1 million respectively.

Manchester United tops the ranking with the most expensive goal among the Premier League clubs – with each goal worth over £11.3 million in total. 

Whilst 2021/22’s champions Manchester City have the highest total value squad (£863 million), each goal is worth much less at £8.7 million, placing them in fourth.

Methodology

  1. The saving experts at odds-comparison.com were curious to investigate the top 10 goal scorers in the 2021/22 Premier League season to see which players’ goals were the potentially most expensive, as well as uncovering the club with the potentially most expensive goals.
  2.  To do this, a list of the top 10 goal scoring players was curated using official Premier League goal stats.
  3. Using transfermarkt.co.uk, each player’s market value was then noted and analysed to predict how much each goal was potentially worth.
  4. Using official Premier League goal stats for each club and the clubs total market value, the experts at odds-comparison.com were able to also predict how much each goal was worth to each club.
