Key Findings from The Data:

  • Leading the results is Atletico Madrid’s victory against Liverpool in 2020 with over 8 million views. This will be remembered as the game when Atletico clawed back a surprise hat-trick in extra time when it seemed Liverpool had almost won – making them win 2-4 on their aggregate score and knocking Liverpool out of the competition. The video currently has 8,487,164 views and can potentially earn over £12,000!
  • In second place is Tottenham’s 2-3 win against Ajax in 2019 with over 7 million views. This is remembered as the match where Tottenham went from losing 3-0 on aggregate to their player Lucas Moura scoring a hat-trick to put them ahead of Ajax and into the final. Earnings from this goal could net you over £10,000.
  • In ninth place is Real Madrid’s victory against Liverpool at this year’s Champions League final. Vinicius Jr. scored the only goal in the game in the 59th minute, making it an easy win for the Spanish side, and their 14th win overall. This currently has over 1.5 million views after only three days and could earn you over £2,700.
  • Finally, trailing at the bottom of the top 10 is Liverpool’s historic 3-1 win against Olympiacos in 2004 with almost 1.5 million YouTube views. This is historic as it once again was a hat-trick that decided the match, with Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard helping his side claw back after Olympiacos were in the lead. This led to them winning the Champions League five months later. This video could potentially earn over £2,100.
  • Multiple results in the top ten feature matches won on hat-tricks, or aggregate scores, it could be implied that they are more popular on YouTube due to the luck of the teams winning.
