Apple now allows you to Edit and even Unsend your iMessages

Apple introduced a slew of new features for its software platforms during its WWDC 2022 event, including the ability to edit messages you’ve already sent in its Messages app. Users will be able to unsend messages and mark threads unread to conveniently return them later, according to Apple software engineering senior VP Craig Federighi, who announced the changes while discussing iOS 16 updates. This covers three of the most requested features from iMessage users.

Apple says in the fine print of its event news release that users will be able to amend or unsend a message for 15 minutes and that once a message is erased, users will be able to restore it for up to 30 days

Of course, since there’s a new Dictation experience that “lets you seamlessly navigate between speech and touch,” you might not have as many errors to repair once the new features go live. While using voice dictation, the keyboard will remain open, and it will identify emojis as you speak.

Another change will add a list of SharePlay-ready applications to FaceTime, making it easier to see which ones are available, and a SharePlay button in Messages will make it easier to text back and forth while you watch together. If you want to try out the new capabilities right away, Apple will release a developer preview of iOS 16 today, and a public beta of the new software will be available next month.
