Apple finally decides to end the iPod journey

The iPod is one of the most iconic devices of the twenty-first century, and it is undoubtedly the product that propelled Apple to its current market dominance. The age of the standalone mp3 player, on the other hand, may have passed.

Apple stated on Tuesday that the seventh-generation iPod Touch, which will be introduced in 2019, will be the last iPod model. The corporation will continue to sell the item while supplies last, meaning that production has ended. The rationale is obvious: the iPod’s functionality may be found in any of Apple’s subsequent products.

It’s more like software that can operate on a variety of mobile devices. When it came to storage space, iPods had an advantage over the iPhone at first. This edge, however, was subsequently lost. The iPod Touch, the final version of the iPod, is simply an iPhone minus the cellular capability.

While Apple still wants consumers to listen to music on the go with their iPhones, Apple Watches, and AirPods, the company claims that its other devices are ideal for listening to music at home. The iPad has more power, while the HomePod is less expensive.

The original iPod was released in October 2001, and while it was far from the first portable MP3 player, it did popularise them. The iPod Nano, iPod Shuffle, and iPod Touch were all redesigned at some point during their lives.
