Intel’s Arc A370M almost catches up to Nvidia’s RTX 3050 Mobile in Official Benchmark results

Despite numerous speculations claiming that the Intel Arc A370M will only be comparable with previous-generation GPUs, it is significantly quicker than we had anticipated. According to fresh official benchmarks from PCWorld, the A370M can compete in gaming and productivity applications with Nvidia’s RTX 3050 mobile GPU.

The Arc A370M, along with the lower-end Arc A350M, was released about two months ago and constituted one of Intel’s entry-level products in their Arc 3 line of GPUs. The Arc A370M has 8 Xe cores and a 1550MHz graphics frequency. The memory capacity is 4GB, using GDDR6 modules and a 64-bit wide interface. Depending on the laptop model, GPU power will range from 35 to 50 watts.

An MSI Summit E16 Flip Evo notebook with Intel’s reference design for the A370M was used for testing. The HP Spectre x360 and the Asus Vivobook Pro 15 OLED were among the RTX 3050 notebooks tested.

The A370M notebook earned 4405 points in 3DMark Time Spy, beating other RTX 3050 computers including the HP Spectre notebook, which got 3772 points, and the Vivobook Pro, which scored 4396 points. The A370M outscored the HP Spectre RTX 3050 notebook in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, averaging 59 FPS at 1080P on the maximum settings. The RTX 3050 could barely produce 50 frames per second.

Intel’s Arc A370M lost against Nvidia’s RTX 3050 in PCWorld’s test

PCWorld also tested Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition, with the A370M losing this time to the RTX 3050. The A370 got 19 frames per second, whereas the 3050 got 22. The ray-tracing requirements requested in this version of Metro Exodus are without a doubt to blame for the unplayable frame rates.

The good news is that if you truly want to play ray tracing games, the Intel A370M can do it. We wouldn’t be surprised to see playable FPS on the A370M with ray tracing enabled thanks to FSR or Intel’s forthcoming XSS upscaling technology.

In the Topaz Video Enhanced AI application, Intel’s A370M outperformed the RTX 3050 by 53 seconds, with a completion time of just 134 seconds. At 187 seconds, the RTX 3050 was marginally ahead.

The results of PCWorld’s tests are positive for Intel’s latest GPUs. It demonstrates that even its entry-level products are not as slow as we previously assumed and can compete with Nvidia’s latest RTX 3050 GPUs. We’re looking forward to seeing how Intel’s Arc 5 and Arc 7 mobile GPUs stack up against Nvidia’s RTX 3060 and RTX 3070 mobile graphics.
