Everton 1-0 Chelsea: Toffees shock dismal Londoners to keep Premier League hopes alive

Everton have earned three extremely valuable points by defeating Chelsea 1-0 at Goodison Park. Frank Lampard got the better of his former side in a very heated encounter, which sees the home team come away with three points after a hard fought game.

Right from the start, the game was a tense affair with the two sets of players turning hostile very quickly. There were more yellow cards shown than shots on goal during the first half, which goes to show the kind of game that the spectators had on their hands.

Everton find survival hopes in upset win over Chelsea

Thomas Tuchel will be extremely disappointed with the way the West London side played following their draw against Manchester United. In a game where a response was expected from the team, they collapsed altogether.

And now, they are only three points ahead of fourth placed Arsenal, who could displace them if the current run of poor results continues. Tottenham are only five points behind, which means that their spot in the top four is not guaranteed.

On the other side of the table, Everton are still in the relegation zone, but are two points behind Burnley and Leeds United with one game in hand. The Toffees will be facing Leicester City, Watford, Crystal Palace, Arsenal and Brentford in their final four games of the season.

If they are able to continue putting in these determined performances to stay up in the Premier League, they might just achieve their goals.
