Barcelona have been linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland in the summer. The Norwegian’s €75 million release clause becomes valid when the summer transfer window opens, and the Blaugrana are prepared to offer a huge amount of money to complete his signing.
Last Tuesday, Xavi reportedly travelled to Munich to meet the player along with Jordi Cruyff. The Barcelona head coach did not deny his trip to Germany, but instead refocused conversation to the matters at hand for the team.
Xavi talks about Haaland potentially joining Barcelona
“I can’t disclose details, but I can only say that we are working for the present and the future of the club,” Xavi said.
“I can’t say any more, when I can we will be the first to say it.
“For example, yesterday we announced Pablo Torre’s arrival.
“But, in this situation [regarding Haaland], I have nothing to say and nothing to announce, only that we are working for the good of the club, for the future and the present.”
Xavi went on to say that Haaland hasn’t said ‘no’ to the idea of joining Barcelona, which should provide fans with some optimism: “The most important thing is that I have not seen a single player who has said ‘no’ to Barcelona.
“Of course there are different circumstances, but it makes all the players feel excited at the idea of joining.”
The Spanish giants have reportedly prepared a five-year contract for Haaland, and his arrival will surely put the club back on the map as one of the best in Europe.
