High-End Alder Lake notebooks spotted with Intel’s Arc A370M Gaming GPU

In the BAPCo database, an Alder Lake-powered PC has been found with an Intel Arc A370M Gaming GPU for mainstream notebooks.

Intel’s Arc Alchemist graphics family has a well-known naming scheme. Several codenames have previously leaked via drivers, and a handful has been confirmed by Intel during their CES presentations. As we get closer to the launch of all-Intel notebooks, these GPUs are starting to pop up in various databases. The most recent entry is for the mobility Arc A370M, which will be an entry-level laptop solution.

While the Intel Arc A370M GPU’s characteristics aren’t listed in the database, we may guess that it’ll be based on the smaller of the two Arc Alchemist GPUs, the DG2-128 or SOC2. This laptop GPU will most likely have 4 GB of GDDR6 VRAM, a 14 Gbps clock speed, and a memory bandwidth of 112 GB/s, as well as the full DG2-128 design. The Arc A380M will be the higher-end version, which will include the entire GPU SKU.

Apart from these features, the laptop has an Intel Core i7-12800H 14-core processor, 8 GB of DDR5-4800 memory, and a 500 GB Samsung 980 SSD. Because the laptop is a reference platform, it is unlikely to be sold in stores, but we do know that OEMs have received them and that they have been out in the wild for some time. Because the benchmark is largely CPU optimized and GPU performance is the least important here, the results aren’t worth comparing.

Acer stated that the Swift X laptop will use the same Intel Arc A370M graphics chip. The most important thing to remember is that the Arc A370M is an entry-level processor that will compete against NVIDIA’s (GA107 / RTX 3050 series) and AMD’s (Navi 24 / RX 6400 & Below) entry-level GPUs. Early performance tests have shown the Arc A380 to be on par with a GTX 1650 SUPER, and this is using early drivers and clocks, so final performance could be significantly better.

The Intel Arc Alchemist graphics family is set to launch in the next weeks, with a variety of mobile and desktop graphics choices for gamers and content makers slated to follow.
