The newest leak comes from Twitter user HXL (@955pro), who claims to have found a purported presentation detailing the memory options for Intel’s future DG2 ‘Xe-HPG’ powered Arc Alchemist family of CPUs. The specifications for the desktop processors will differ slightly because the exact variations stated include all mobile GPUs (clocks, memory speeds, voltages, etc).
To begin with, the DG2-512 core, which has 32 Xe-cores, 512 Execution Units, and 4096 ALUs, will be used in the flagship Intel Arc Alchemist mobile GPU. The GPU will include 16 GB of GDDR6 memory, which will run at 16 Gbps via a 256-bit bus for a total bandwidth of 512 GB/s. The chip’s I/O voltage is suggested to be 1.35V, and it will use a Type-3/4 12-layer PCB design.
Given that those are around the RTX 3060 Ti / RTX 3070 (desktop) performance level, this chip should be on par with the RTX 3070 Ti or even the RTX 3080 Ti mobility GPUs in terms of performance. The full-fat configuration of Intel’s DG2-512 is now available on mobile, resulting in a heated rivalry between NVIDIA’s and Intel’s top-end mobility GPUs.
Moving on to the next Intel Arc Alchemist GPU, which is based on the same ‘SOC1’ SKU but with a reduced configuration. There are 24 Xe cores, 384 Execution Units, and 3072 ALUs on this chip. The chip has a 12 GB GDDR6 memory architecture that runs at 16 Gbps over a 192-bit bus interface with a total bandwidth of 384 GB/s.
The 256 EU model, which has 16 Xe-cores, 2048 ALUs, and 8 GB GDDR6 memory across a 128-bit bus and clocks in at 16 Gbps to give up to 256 GB/s bandwidth, is the last SKU to use the same ‘SOC1’ processor. The ‘SKU3’ also has a Type-3 10-layer PCB design, as opposed to the 12-layer PCB found on the other two ‘DG2-512’ SKUs.
Finally, there’s the ‘SOC2’, which will contain two GPUs: the ‘SKU4’, which has 8 Xe cores, 128 EUs, and 1024 ALUs, and the ‘SKU5’, which has 6 Xe cores, 96 EUs, and 768 ALUs. Both of these Arc Alchemist GPUs will include a 4 GB GDDR6 memory module with a 14 Gbps data rate across a 64-bit wide bus interface and a total bandwidth of up to 112 GB/s. Both of these GPUs will use a Type-3 8-layer PCB and will have a 1.25V IO voltage.
Intel’s Arc Alchemist DG2 GPUs are slated to be released later this quarter, and it appears that the mobility variations will be the first to hit the market, followed by a full launch on the desktop platform.
