OnePlus has already launched its latest flagship smartphone in China, the OnePlus 10 Pro. The company is yet to bring the device to the global markets and the launch of the OnePlus 10 is also pending.
A new report has emerged which states that OnePlus is now prepping itself to launch a new variant of the smartphone, dubbed the OnePlus 10R, in the second quarter of 2022.
Assuming the reports are true, the OnePlus 10R will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chip. The same processor is expected to power the Oppo Find X5 smartphone.
Based on a report from Android Central, the OnePlus 10 will not be powered by the Dimensity 9000 due to its lack of mmWave connectivity support for 5G.
The OnePlus 10R is limited to Asian markets, so OnePlus is not hesitant in using the Dimensity 9000 chipset here as 5G is more popular in the North American market.
OnePlus appears to be trying to use more MediaTek chips for its budget, mid-range, or upper mid-range offerings. Till 2021, the company was exclusively using Qualcomm Snapdragon chips but that was changed last year with the release of the Nord 2.
The other specs of the OnePlus 10R, the smartphone will have an AMOLED display that will offer a 120Hz refresh rate. The device will have a minimum of 8GB RAM with 128GB internal storage. We can expect more details to emerge in the coming weeks as we near the launch of the OnePlus 10R.
