The compact flagship category has been ignored by companies due to the lack of excitement and interest from customers for the past 3 years. However, the times are changing ever since Apple restarted the compact smartphone trend with the iPhone 12 Mini last year and launched its successor, the iPhone 13 Mini in 2021.
Xiaomi is looking to compete in the compact flagship category as well now. From the latest promo images, the Xiaomi 12 appears to be the first compact flagship from Xiaomi since the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE.
The popular benchmarking site, AnTuTu recently shared the official promo images of the Xiaomi Mi 12 Series on its Weibo handle, it stated that the Xiaomi 12 Series will arrive in two size options, both options worthy of carrying the flagship tagline in the smartphone market.
AnTuTu announces in the post that the Xiaomi 12 is the smaller and more compact flagship, however, it does not skimp on the essentials of being a flagship smartphone.
It delivers the same premium flagship experience. The Xiaomi 12 Pro, is the upgraded version, almost like a big brother to the Xiaomi 12 as it provides the best multimedia experience with a bigger screen, bigger battery, and larger sound system.
The Xiaomi 12 Series will launch on the 28th of December at 19:30 CST and from what the leaks have revealed, we will see three models in the lineup, the Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro, and the Xiaomi 12X.
The Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro are equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip while the Xiaomi 12X has the Snapdragon 870 chip as per listings.
The Xiaomi 12 and 12X support 67W fast charging, while the Xiaomi 12 Pro offers 120W rapid charging. The Xiaomi 12 Series will run on Android 12 with MIUI 13 on top.
