Jamshedpur FC were defeated by the league leaders, Mumbai City FC in a six-goal thriller in the ISL. The first and second placed teams put on a battle of great proportion, and the Islanders came out on top with all three points. Here are the three key talking points from the game.
On another level
Mumbai City FC now have a four-point lead ahead of the rest of the table now that they have defeated their closest competitors. The Islanders have been on another level this season, picking up wins in all their games except the loss to Hyderabad FC.
Considering the way things are shaping up, they seem absolutely destined to lift the title at the end of the campaign.
First loss for Jamshedpur FC
The Men of Steel have suffered their first loss of the season, and it is against the best team in the division. They put up a very strong fight despite going three goals down in the first half, and almost salvaged a point from the game.
However, Ygor Catatau came off the bench again to earn all three points for his team. Mumbai found it rather easy to cut through the Jamshedpur defence, which is something that they will need to improve going ahead in the season.
Cassio Gabriel’s run-out
Gabriel was named the Hero of the Match for his goal and two assists in the win. The Brazilian was key to the win for the Islanders, and did a remarkable job on the pitch both going forward, and defending.
The 29-year-old has scored his first goal for the Sky Blues, and has done so in remarkable fashion. Him being named the Hero of the Match is fully deserved, and it will be exciting to see how he evolves in the season with four goal contributions from five games this season so far.
Mumbai City FC will continue their quest to defend the title against Chennaiyin. Jamshedpur FC, on the other hand, have another massive game against Odisha FC on 14th.
