Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has become a subject of constant transfer rumours recently. The German international’s contract expires in the summer, and he is yet to reach an agreement with the Blues over a new deal.
Rudiger wants a salary worth €12 million per year, which Chelsea are not willing to match. As a result, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have turned their attention to the German in hopes of landing him on a free transfer.
Real Madrid are open to signing Rudiger, just like David Alaba this summer. The Austrian has fit in very well at the Santiago Bernabeu and Madrid hope that the German could do the same.
A number of free transfer targets are on Real Madrid’s radar, such as Kylian Mbappe, Paul Pogba and Rudiger. All of them will be free to negotiate with the board after January 1, when the winter transfer window opens for business.
But, Real Madrid will have to act quickly since Bayern Munich are also interested in signing the defender. Despite their strict financial model, they are willing to match Antonio Rudiger’s financial demands. As a result, a move back to his native country could also be on the cards.
Under Thomas Tuchel, Rudiger has become one of the best defenders in the Premier League. He also lifted the Champions League and Super Cup with Chelsea this summer. Despite being rated highly in the team, and being a leader at the back, the Blues might lose the centre-back for free in June.
