Snapdragon 888 Plus is the topmost SoC to date offered by Qualcomm. By any chance, the SoC maker will bring the successor, which is pretty obvious and expected as well. The Snapdragon Tech Summit 2021 is the event where the team may introduce the next flagship SoC. Now, the buzz all around is regarding the naming.

Following the traditional way, everyone was expecting the next flagship to come with the name ‘Snapdragon 898’ if it fits in the 800 series. But probably, the SoC maker will choose a different path this time as rumors from various trusted sources are telling the upcoming flagship will be Snapdragon 8 Gen1. Qualcomm is supposed to initiate the 900 series in early 2022.

Digital Chat Station from Weibo is one of the trusted sources who are behind these rumors. In one post, he mentioned the name. On the other hand, Ice Universe expects the exact same name and shared that on Twitter as well. As per him, the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 will have some impactful improvements in all areas, including GPU, AI, and Image Processing, except the CPU part.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen1 may still have heating issues like the Snapdragon 888, which means users may face throttling after heavy and prolonged usage. Anyways, we need to wait for some time after the official appearance, to get the chips with premium smartphones.
