The Microsoft Surface Neo has just been spotted again. This time, the device has been spotted in Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s latest Netflix film Red Notice, in Ryan Reynolds’s hands.
The movie was recently released across the globe and has been hyped widely prior to its release. Only users with keen eyes spotted this product in a scene. The American tech giant had announced the Surface Neo along with the Surface Duo back in 2019.
The latter was officially released while the former was delayed. The recent cameo in the movie does imply that the device is not forgotten and may still make a commercial appearance soon, however, this is highly unlikely to be the case.
Previously, the Microsoft Surface Neo had been “postponed indefinitely.” While the official reason was never revealed it is likely that due to the impact of the Coronavirus outbreak along with component shortages that followed shortly after.
Furthermore, the lackluster reception of the Surface Duo could have also discouraged Microsoft from releasing the product. So, why did we see an unreleased product that may never make it to be on the market in movies and series like Red Notice and WandaVision?
In short, the device was announced back in 2019m which is around the same time when the shooting began for these cinematic projects.
In other words, the film was shot before the pandemic and, hence, featured the product prior to its launch as a means of marketing. So now, it appears as if the product is being teased. As of right now, the fate of the Microsoft Surface Neo is still unknown, but hopefully, we get more information in the coming months.
