Reliance Jio has released the ‘Making of JioPhone Next’ film ahead of Diwali. The JioPhone Next is one of the most anticipated 4G smartphones of the year that is promising advanced features but with an affordable price tag. In the video, Jio reiterates that JioPhone Next, similar to its other services, is “Made in India, Made for India and Made by Indians.” The device aims to ensure that every Indian gets an equal opportunity and equal access to digital technology. Notably, the video also teases the design of the smartphone.
The information came courtesy of a short video titled ‘Making of JioPhone Next’ released by Reliance Jio on Monday. In the video, the telecom giant also previewed its upcoming budget smartphone. So let’s see more details about the phone.
JioPhone Next Features
The video reveals that JioPhone Next will run on Pragati OS, powered by Android OS. It has been engineered by both Jio and Google to bring Pragati (meaning progress) for all while offering a seamless experience at an affordable cost. Reliance Jio has also announced the phone will feature a Qualcomm mobile processor, but the exact chipset model remains unclear. The processor is said to optimise device performance, audio and battery.
Jio and Google have previously confirmed the software experience in the JioPhone Next will focus on three aspects: localisation, cameras and push for the latest Android features and security updates.
The JioPhone Next is further said to bundle features like voice assistant, automatic read-aloud of screen text that will seemingly work with any text on the screen including web pages, apps, messages, and even photos, language translation, smart camera with augmented reality filters from Snapchat and HDR more, and more.
The JioPhone Next is said to be powered by a Qualcomm chipset paired with 2GB RAM, although a 3GB RAM variant may also be on the cards. The phone could also get 16GB and 32GB storage options with room for expansion through a micro-SD card.
It is set to sport a 5.5-inch HD+ display with a 720×1, 440 pixels resolution and a 320dpi screen density. It will pack a 2,500 mAh battery with charging over a micro-USB port. We could also see an 8 MP selfie camera in front. It also comes preloaded with a host of Jio and Google apps.
