Lionel Messi left Barcelona this summer as both the club and the player failed to sign a contract extension due to La Liga’s financial rules. The Argentine has now joined French giants Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.
Seeing Messi in a jersey other than the Barcelona shirt is a harsh reality to accept. However, all the Messi fans are also waiting to see him pair up with Neymar and Mbappe as he gears up for a new challenge.
PSG played their second match of the 2021-22 Ligue 1 campaign last weekend and won 4-2 against Strasbourg. But, Messi didn’t make his debut for PSG in the last match and now the fans are wondering when will Messi make his PSG debut.
Messi joined PSG last week and has resumed training with PSG on 12th August. He was on a vacation after winning his first international trophy with Argentina, the Copa America 2021 trophy.
Messi has been out of action since 10th July, so it will take some time for him to regain his full match sharpness. Usually, a player takes 2-3 weeks to be match fit after resuming training. Therefore, Messi is expected to be match fit in the early days of September.
However, the first international break of the season happens to be in September, when Messi will play for Argentina in the World Cup qualifiers. So, it is expected Messi will make his PSG debut just after the Ligue 1 2021-22 season resume after the international break.
In all probability, Lionel Messi will make his debut for PSG in their first game after the international break at home against Clermont Foot on 12th September. He will then soon make his UEFA Champions League debut with PSG on 14th or 15th September.
Despite the hurt of seeing Messi leave Barcelona, all the football fans are also eagerly waiting to see Messi in action alongside Neymar and Mbappe. The day is not very far as Messi is expected to make his PSG debut right after the international break.
