Chelsea seem to have come to life in the transfer market since they have reached an agreement on personal terms with Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde.
The player has been offered a contract until 2026 and is seen as the main target for the centre-back position this summer for the Blues. According to Fabrizio Romano, the personal terms are not an issue since Kounde is open to the idea of joining Chelsea this summer.
The two clubs are right now in advanced negotiations for the player, and will have to agree on a transfer fee before it can go through. The 22-year-old is considered one of the best young centre-backs in the world, and has attracted interest from various top clubs across Europe.
He has been at Sevilla since 2019, and has helped the La Liga club not only win the Europa League, but also achieve a top four finish in the domestic league. The player wants to have a shot at winning the Champions League, and joining the reigning champions will significantly boost his chances of doing so.
The defender has an €80 million release clause in his contract with Sevilla, and Chelsea will no doubt try to negotiate a lower price for the player. Kounde currently has three years left on his deal with the Andalusian club. His current market value is €60 million, and the London club could pay a fee in that region to secure their first big signing of the summer.
