Women’s Continental Cup format changed for the 2021-22 season

The Women’s Continental Cup will undergo a format change starting from the 21/22 season. The teams participating have been divided into two pools, northern and southern. These two pools will further be divided into groups. Two groups will be made from the northern teams and three from the southern.

Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal will not be involved in the draw set to be held on 30th July. The three teams have qualified for the Women’s Champions League, and will enter the Conti Cup in the quarter final stage. If Arsenal and Manchester City win the first two rounds of the Champions League, then they will join Chelsea in the quarter finals of the domestic cup.

If they are knocked out beforehand, they will be drawn into an existing group with the appropriate geographical location. The draw to be held will feature 21 clubs, nine going from the northern division while the southern division will consist of 12 teams.

In the Northern section, the first five numbers out of the bag will be placed in Group A. The remaining and last four numbers out of the bag will be placed in Group B.

In the Southern Section, the first four numbers out of the bag will be placed in Group C. The next four numbers drawn out of the bag will be placed in Group D. The remaining and final four numbers drawn out of the bag will be placed in Group E.
