The finals of Euro 2020 will see Italy face off against England. And while the two teams have a lot of brilliant players from big clubs, no players from Barcelona will participate in the finals of the competition.
Spain’s Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, Eric Garcia, Pedri and Denmark’s Martin Braithwaite have all knocked out with their national teams in the semi-final stages. Antoine Griezmann, Clement Lenglet and Ousmane Dembele of France were sent packing by Switzerland earlier in the tournament.
Netherlands met the same fate, with Frenkie de Jong and Memphis Depay representing the Barcelona squad in the Dutch squad. They were dumped out of the tournament by Czech Republic in the Round of 16, following a rather surprising fixture that saw the underdogs get the better of the Dutch.
According to the agreement between the European Club Association and UEFA, clubs will earn €9000 per day for the players that represent them at the national level. But, this can only apply to the players who have been at the club since July 2019. Thus, Barcelona will receive 7,500 euros per day for Braithwaite, 6,000 euros per day for Pedri, and 3,000 euros per day for Memphis Depay and Eric Garcia apiece.
And considering that Ousmane Dembele got injured with France in the Euros, they can claim over €20,000 per day which would result in UEFA having to pay Barcelona a compensation of €2.5 million if their medical team’s prediction is correct.
