Cutting hair is one thing. Understanding your customers is another. The variety show The Village Barber 2 has released its first teaser, and Park Bo Gum, Lee Sang Yi and Ko Kyung Pyo have a surprising challenge in their new seaside salon: the local dialect. The show premieres in November.

What Is The Village Barber 2?

It’s a variety show in which Park Bo Gum runs a barbershop in a small seaside village alongside his close friends Lee Sang Yi and Ko Kyung Pyo. This season, the trio opens their salon in Tongyeong. If you like feel-good variety shows with a warm, small-town vibe, this one looks like a treat.

Who Does What at the Salon?

Park Bo Gum: He passed the national hairdresser certification exam on his second attempt, so he can now offer perm treatments himself.
Lee Sang Yi: He takes care of nail services.
Ko Kyung Pyo: He’s the new cast member and handles customer service while adjusting to running the business.

The Language Barrier

Their biggest hurdle isn’t hair or nails. It’s the Gyeongsang dialect spoken by local residents. Struggling to follow what customers say, the trio is left flustered. Lee Sang Yi even admits he couldn’t understand a single thing.

The teaser also includes a Tongyeong dialect quiz. The three have to guess the meanings of local expressions such as paida, ibagu and maengkki. Their attempts to navigate the local language and culture are expected to be one of the season’s highlights.

Why You Should Watch?

Season 2 shows the friends in new roles. Park Bo Gum has levelled up his skills, and Ko Kyung Pyo brings a fresh dynamic to the team. Add a charming coastal setting and cultural mix-ups, and you have the ingredients for a light, funny show.

If you’re new to the series, you can binge Season 1 on Viki. Park Bo Gum and Ko Kyung Pyo also appeared together in Reply 1988, which is on Viki as well.
