Gates are opening, and the hunters are lining up. Netflix has confirmed a big batch of new names for its upcoming live-action Solo Leveling series, led by Byeon Woo Seok.
Solo Leveling: The Story Behind the Series
Solo Leveling began as a web novel and was later adapted into a webtoon and an animated series. It follows Sung Jin Woo (Byeon Woo Seok), an E-rank Hunter, the lowest tier among those who protect the real world from monsters beyond mysterious Gates. After a near-death experience he gains extraordinary abilities, and as he levels up he becomes humanity’s unexpected hope.
Who Plays Whom?
| Actor | Role | Who they are |
|---|---|---|
| Byeon Woo Seok | Sung Jin Woo | E-rank Hunter who gains extraordinary abilities |
| Han So Hee | Cha Hae In | Korea’s ninth S-rank hunter and its only female S-rank hunter, who mainly wields a longsword |
| Kang You Seok | Yoo Jin Ho | Second son of the Yoojin Group family, who follows Jin Woo like a younger brother after dungeon quests |
| Sung Joon | Woo Jin Chul | A-rank hunter and chief inspector of the Surveillance Team at the Korean Hunters Association |
| Lee Sung Min (special appearance) | Go Gun Hee | Retired top-level hunter and chairman of the Korean Hunters Association |
| Rain (special appearance) | Baek Yoon Ho | S-rank head of the White Tiger Guild who can transform into a magical beast |
The Supporting Hunters
Woo Jin Chul tracks the movements of hunters, and he is the first to suspect that Jin Woo has undergone a reawakening. That sets up a cat-and-mouse thread alongside the monster fights. Go Gun Hee has the authority to mobilize hunters in an emergency, so his presence signals big stakes. Baek Yoon Ho’s White Tiger Guild ranks second among Korea’s five major hunter guilds.
Why the Casting Stands Out?
Pairing a lead known for romance and drama with an action-fantasy world gives the series a wide appeal. Han So Hee’s role as a top-tier swordswoman is likely to draw fans of the original story, and special appearances from Lee Sung Min and Rain add star power to the world of hunters and guilds.
What We Still Don’t Know?
The report doesn’t give a release date, episode count or director, so fans will have to wait for the next announcement. Netflix has said to stay tuned for updates.
