The New Project: A Clone Saga Series (Reported)
According to Deadline, Sony and Amazon Prime Video are nearing a series order for a show based on the 1990s Clone Saga from Spider-Man comics. It centers on two clones of Peter Parker: Ben Reilly (Scarlet Spider), a near-perfect replica, and Kaine Parker, who is bigger, stronger and more violent.
The report warns that the comic source material may see significant changes. One account has the pair facing other clones while wrestling with their newly discovered identities, while another suggests their origins may be altered and they will take on new identities. There is no word yet on whether Peter Parker appears, though one actor playing both clones would make sense. Andy Samberg voices Ben Reilly in the animated films and returns in 2027. American Born Chinese creator Kelvin Yu is writing the series, which is one of four Spider-Man TV projects reportedly in development.

Each Project Explained

1. Homecoming. After the failure of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Sony dropped its Andrew Garfield spin-off plans and teamed up with Marvel Studios. Tom Holland’s Peter Parker debuted in Civil War before getting this 2017 solo film. Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man served as mentor, and Michael Keaton’s Vulture was the villain, setting up threads that paid off nine years later.
2. Into the Spider-Verse. This 2018 animated hit by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller shifted the spotlight to Miles Morales, voiced by Shameik Moore. Several Spider-heroes, including Spider-Gwen, Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Ham and Peter Parker, united to fight Kingpin.

3. Far From Home. Released in 2019, months after Endgame, it took Peter across Europe to face Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio. He finally got together with Zendaya’s M.J., and the film dealt with grief over Tony Stark’s loss. It grossed over a billion dollars and set off the multiverse chain reaction.
4. No Way Home. Mysterio exposed Peter’s identity, so he asked Doctor Strange for help. The resulting spell tore open the multiverse, pulling in villains and Spider-Men from the Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield eras for a historic crossover. Sony and Marvel had briefly split before reconciling to make it happen.
5. Across the Spider-Verse. The 2023 sequel reunited fans with Miles years later. He clashes with The Spot, a powerful multiverse-level villain, and Miguel O’Hara’s Spider Society.
6. Brand New Day. This summer’s release reportedly earned a record $2.5 billion worldwide, ranking third all-time. It follows Peter’s lonely life after No Way Home and introduces Sadie Sink as Jean Grey. Jon Bernthal’s Punisher and Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk also appear, and Michael Mando’s Scorpion returns. An extended theatrical re-release is reportedly planned.
7. Spider-Noir. Sony’s first live-action Spider-Man TV show arrived on Prime Video in May as an eight-episode binge, in color and black-and-white versions. Nicolas Cage played the 1930s detective hero, a Variant who goes by Ben Reilly and The Spider. Reviews were strong, but it was reportedly canceled over viewership struggles.
8. Beyond the Spider-Verse. Once slated for 2024, it now arrives June 18, 2027. Miles is trapped in another universe with a Prowler Variant of himself, Gwen is assembling a rescue team, and The Spot remains a threat. Spider-Man 2099 has also warned that Miles’ father is doomed.
9. Spider-Punk Movie. Daniel Kaluuya is co-writing and developing a spin-off for Hobie Brown, the anti-authority British hero. That suggests he survives Beyond the Spider-Verse.
10. Spider-Gwen Movie. Hailee Steinfeld’s Gwen Stacy is also getting an animated spin-off. Fans theorize it could grow into a larger female-led project with Jessica Drew and Silk.
11. Venom Animated Movie. Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein are early in development on an R-rated animated Venom film. Whether it connects to Tom Hardy’s version is unknown.
