For the forthcoming games, 18 players have already been chosen. The majority of them are the ones that play within Brazil.

Goalkeepers: Brenno (Gremio) and Santos (Athletico-PR)

Defenders: Nino (Fluminense), Guilherme Arana (Atlético-MG), Gabriel Menino (Palmeiras), Daniel Alves (São Paulo), Gabriel Magalhães (Arsenal), and Diego Carlos (Sevilla).

As a result, the Selecao defence will include players who have won the Copa Libertadores 2020 (Gabriel Menino), the Europa League 2020 (Diego Carlos), and Daniel Alves, who has won nearly all of their previous trophies.

Midfielders: Matheus Henrique (Grêmio), Gerson (Flamengo), Claudinho (Red Bull Bragantino), Bruno Guimarães (Lyon), and Douglas Luiz (Aston Villa). Claudinho was the leading scorer in the Serie A competition in 2020.

Forwards: Paulinho (Bayer Leverkusen), Matheus Cunha (Hertha Berlin), Antony (Ajax), Malcolm (Zenit Saint-Petersburg), and Pedro (Flamengo). Pedro bagged three goals in the last two friendly games.

The Olympic games that preceded Tokyo were staged in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro. The men’s football team won the gold medal after a penalty shootout victory over Germany. The final was conducted at the iconic Maracanã stadium, with Brazil being led by Neymar, who was responsible for taking the match-winning penalty kick.

Brazil aspire to replicate the accomplishment at the 2018 Olympic Games in Tokyo, which will take place in July. To achieve so, they’ve enlisted the services of possibly one of the strongest Olympic squads in recent memory, as indicated before.

The entire Brazilian delegation for these Olympic Games bears a tremendous deal of responsibility, as it is the South American country that has the most athletes qualified for the event. On the other side, not all is rosy, as certain teams, such as Flamengo, have refused to allow players to compete.

In terms of its soccer team, Brazil are having a great year. The fantastic start they’ve had in the Copa América and in the qualifying rounds for the Qatar 2022 World Cup is an illustration of this.
