Italy number 1 Gianluigi Donnarumma is all set to join Paris Saint-Germain, having passed his medical assessment today with the national team camp. The player is now set to put pen to paper and will be revealed as a PSG player in the next few days.
Donnarumma will join the French club as a free agent, following the expiry of his contract with AC Milan. He will be followed by Hakan Calhanoglu on the way out as a free agent. And, he will be the second free agent signing made by PSG this summer, after announcing the recruitment of Gini Wijnaldum earlier this month.
Donnarumma is the youngest goalkeeper to become a starter for Milan, and has already made 251 appearances for the club. In all those games between the sticks, he kept 88 clean sheets and has only conceded 265 goals.
In 20/21, Donnarumma started every league game for the Rossoneri and kept 14 clean sheets as they returned to the Champions League with a finish within the top four. He also captained the team on numerous occasions, and has established himself the best goalkeeper in Italy over the last few years.
The 22-year-old has not conceded a single goal for Italy in Euro 2020, and has not been beaten in over 11 games for the national team. He will be competing with Keylor Navas for starting time and will not be shipped out on loan.
