Meta’s Muse AI Agent Explained: How Zuckerberg’s New “Personal Superintelligence” Actually Works

Mark Zuckerberg just took Meta’s biggest step yet toward a future where everyone has their own AI working quietly in the background. Meet Muse — not a chatbot you question, but an agent that actually does the work: managing tasks, tracking goals, and acting on your behalf, even after you’ve closed the app.

What Makes Muse Different From a Regular Assistant

Most AI tools wait for you to ask something. Muse doesn’t. Give it a goal — a fitness plan, a business idea, a packed week of errands — and it builds an action plan, tracks progress, and keeps working even when you’re not actively chatting with it.

Built on Its Own Secure Computer

Rather than running like a typical chatbot, Muse operates on a dedicated, private virtual machine — complete with its own secure browser. Meta says this setup was engineered specifically for personal agents, giving Muse first-of-its-kind privacy and security protections baked into the architecture itself, not bolted on afterward.

How It Connects to Your Everyday Apps

Muse links to the services you already use — one at a time, always your choice. If a service has a public API but no built-in connector yet, Muse can set one up using credentials you provide. And if there’s no API at all, it can simply use the service through a browser, the same way you would.

The Bigger Picture

Muse is part of Zuckerberg’s broader vision of “personal superintelligence” — AI that helps people pursue their own goals rather than a one-size-fits-all assistant. It’s rolling out now in the US, with support for AI glasses coming soon.
