Cast of Kantara Chapter 1: Meet the Faces Powering This Mythical Prequel

If you’ve been counting down the days to October 2, you’re not alone. The cast of Kantara Chapter 1 has slowly been unveiled like a secret nobody could keep for long, and honestly, every new name has made the wait feel worth it. Rishab Shetty’s prequel to his 2022 blockbuster isn’t just a film — it’s a homecoming to Dakshina Kannada’s folklore, and the ensemble reflects that ambition.

Who’s In the Cast of Kantara Chapter 1?

The latest addition is Hindi cinema’s Gulshan Devaiah, who steps into the divine-royal world as Kulashekara, a probable king in the Kadamba-era universe the film is building. He joins Rukmini Vasanth, already confirmed as Kanakavathi, alongside Rishab Shetty himself, who writes, directs, and stars.

The film’s full principal cast hasn’t been revealed yet, so this table will likely grow — bookmark this one.

Why This Prequel Matters

Kantara: Chapter 1 traces the reign of the Kadambas of Karnataka, a mythic detour from the original’s nature-versus-human conflict set in a coastal village. Produced by Hombale Films, the same studio behind KGF, it’s had a demanding journey: three years in the making and 250 days of shoot, according to The Hollywood Reporter India’s report. Shetty has spoken candidly about the film being deeply personal — a story of his village, his people, and his beliefs.

Music comes from B Ajaneesh Loknath, while the screenplay is co-written by Anirudh Mahesh and Shanil Guru alongside Shetty.

Release Details

The film hits theatres on October 2, releasing simultaneously in Kannada, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu, Bengali, and English — a genuinely pan-Indian rollout that mirrors the scale of its ambition.
