The Shooter: Netflix’s New Revenge Drama Cast, Plot & Everything Confirmed So Far

A grandmother in her 70s picks up a gun for the first time in decades — and takes on an entire criminal empire. Netflix’s newest noir thriller, The Shooter (working title), just confirmed its stacked cast, and the premise alone is unlike anything else in the current K-drama lineup.

What’s confirmed?

Netflix officially greenlit production and announced the cast: Lee Jung Eun, Kim Moo Yul, Heo Joon Ho, Choi Sung Eun, Bae Na Ra, Seo Hyun Woo, and Moon Jong Won.

Directed by Lee Kwon of A Shop for Killers, the series follows Jeong Suk Ja, an ordinary woman who raised her grandson alone while working at a restaurant. When he’s mysteriously attacked and left fighting for his life, she picks up a gun she hasn’t touched in decades and goes after the Chunghwa Group — a powerful criminal organization — herself.

The Shooter: Overview

The story’s second lead, Seo Yeon Woo, adds an intriguing wrinkle — he tells Jeong Suk Ja that her grandson’s attack is connected to the Chunghwa Group and offers to help her seek revenge, but his real motive for approaching her remains unclear. That ambiguity alone sets up plenty of tension heading into the series.

A nice bonus for longtime fans: Lee Jung Eun and Kim Moo Yul are reuniting on the same project four years after Juvenile Justice, and their previous chemistry could be a major draw here.

While waiting for more updates, Lee Jung Eun is currently in A Hundred Memories on Viki, and Kim Moo Yul recently appeared in The Old Woman with the Knife — both worth watching to see the range these actors bring to morally complex roles.
