Some directors are brands unto themselves in India, and Christopher Nolan sits right at the top of that list. His latest, The Odyssey, has just crossed the Rs 150 crore mark at the Indian box office — and it’s eyeing a milestone Nolan has never hit before.
The Numbers So Far
The Odyssey collected Rs 5.75 crore on its second Tuesday, a 21% jump from the previous day, pushing its second-week total to Rs 46.25 crore in five days. Combined with its first week’s Rs 104.25 crore, the film’s running total now stands at Rs 150.50 crore gross. Trade estimates suggest it could close the week around Rs 160 crore, with a full run projection nearing Rs 200 crore — which would be Nolan’s first double-century in India.

Why Nolan’s Numbers Matter So Much
Starring Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, and Zendaya, The Odyssey is benefiting from a brand that’s become a genuine box office force in India over the past decade — Nolan’s last three releases, including a re-release of Interstellar, have all drawn strong demand. Interestingly, the mythological-adventure genre hasn’t traditionally been a big draw in Indian cinemas, making this run even more notable. All eyes are now on how the film holds up once it faces its biggest test yet: Spider-Man: Brand New Day, releasing this coming weekend.
