Four Reluctant Hikers, One Snowy Mountain: Netflix’s “Take A Hike!” Turns Strangers Into Family

No hiking experience. No winter gear enthusiasm. No choice. Netflix’s new variety show “Take A Hike!” drops four unlikely mountaineers onto a snow-covered peak — and somehow, friendship survives the frostbite.

The self-hiking series follows Car the garden, Dowoon, Lee Chae Min, and Tarzzan — none of whom had any real interest in mountaineering — as they take on their first-ever midwinter expedition. It’s directed by Na Young Suk and Park Hyun Yong, the minds behind some of Korea’s most beloved unscripted hits.

What Happens On The Mountain in ‘Take A Hike!’?

New stills show the cast bundled in heavy gear from sunrise, pushing each other up snowy trails with genuine encouragement — not staged cheer. By the time they reach the “taste of the descent,” their smiles look earned, not performed.

The cast’s own words say it best:

• Car the garden: found the members “gentle and honest,” with more in common than expected.
• Dowoon: called the chemistry “perfect,” full of mutual care.
• Lee Chae Min: summed it up in one word — “naturalness.”
• Tarzzan: described it as “order within chaos” — no strict rules, yet everything worked.

Producer Park Hyun Yong noted that the hardship of the trail bonded them faster than any planned activity could — proving hardship really does build friendship at record speed.

This kind of “hardship bonding” format echoes classic expedition storytelling, similar in spirit to real-world accounts documented in mountaineering history, where shared struggle often forges lasting bonds.

Why Fans Are Already Hyped?

Unscripted, unglamorous, and unexpectedly wholesome — “Take A Hike!” taps into what makes survival-style variety shows addictive: real exhaustion, real laughter, and real connection, with a snowy backdrop that raises the stakes.
