Ipswich Open Talks for Celtic Star Daizen Maeda

Ipswich Town, now back in the Premier League, is in talks with Celtic about forward Daizen Maeda. With the transfer window open, Ipswich is looking to boost their attacking options, and Maeda seems to be a perfect fit.

Ipswich : Key Details on Maeda’s Situation

Daizen Maeda, who’s 28, is in the last year of his contract with Celtic. Reports say the club will ask for over £15 million for him. But, given his contract situation, this could affect his market value. Ipswich manager Gary O’Neil is eager to wrap up a deal soon, as both clubs have already discussed possible transfer conditions.

Maeda’s scoring ability stands out, with 28 goals in 42 appearances in a previous season. This impressive track record makes him a prime target for Ipswich as they work to strengthen their attacking lineup in the Premier League.

Context of the Transfer Talks

Celtic is reportedly considering 24-year-old Egyptian winger Haissem Hassan as a possible replacement for Maeda. He caught attention with his performances, especially during the World Cup. Currently, Celtic is negotiating with La Liga 2 club Real Oviedo to bring him in. This move shows Celtic’s focus on nurturing young talent as they get ready for potential changes in their squad.

On his end, Maeda has shown interest in moving to the Premier League, mentioning that the summer of 2026 “could be the right moment” to leave Celtic. This adds urgency to the ongoing talks between Ipswich and Celtic.

What’s Next for Ipswich and Celtic?

As Ipswich moves ahead with negotiations for Maeda, they’re also looking at other ways to strengthen their squad. Reports suggest they’re in talks with free-agent Japanese midfielder Hidemasa Morita, another international player, to enhance their attacking options.

There’s a clear sense of urgency from Ipswich as they strive to secure Maeda’s signature before other teams show interest. Previous interest from clubs like Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers underscores that Maeda is a highly sought-after talent. Ipswich needs to act fast to avoid missing out.

The outcome of these discussions could have significant implications for both clubs. For Ipswich, landing a proven goal scorer like Maeda could be essential for establishing themselves in the Premier League. On the other hand, for Celtic, shifting to a new forward might reshape their attacking strategy as they aim to stay competitive.

As the transfer window continues, fans will be keeping a close eye on these negotiations, eagerly waiting for updates on Maeda’s potential move to Ipswich.
