Netflix Just Won a Bidding War for Joel Edgerton’s Next Big Series — Here’s the Full Story

Sometimes a project generates buzz before a single scene is even filmed. That’s exactly what happened with “Trigger Point” — Netflix beat out six other bidders to land this A24-produced action-crime series, and now details are finally starting to take shape.

Back in December 2025, Netflix won a fierce seven-way bidding war for the rights to “Trigger Point,” an eight-episode series starring Joel Edgerton in the lead role of Red. The story centers on a crew of elite ex-special forces operators who use their military-grade skills for criminal hire — all while an FBI agent closes in on their operation.

Why This Team-Up Matters?

A24’s track record with Netflix speaks for itself — the studio is behind hits like the Emmy-winning “Beef” and comedy favorites such as “Mo” and “Survival of the Thickest.” Pairing that pedigree with director Jeremy Saulnier, known for tense, grounded action storytelling, signals “Trigger Point” is aiming for prestige as much as adrenaline.

Joel Edgerton, meanwhile, is no stranger to Netflix audiences, having appeared in “Bright,” “The King,” and the recent drama “Train Dreams.” His character Red — a skilled operator who’s crossed into the criminal underworld — looks tailor-made for the morally gray roles he’s built a career on.

When Will It Actually Arrive?

Filming is currently expected to run from November 2026 through April 2027. Given typical post-production timelines for a series this scale, a 2028 release feels most realistic, though an ambitious late-2027 window isn’t impossible if production stays on schedule. Netflix’s official 2027 slate announcement, expected early next year, should offer more clarity.

For now, “Trigger Point” remains one of the most intriguing action series in Netflix’s pipeline — worth bookmarking as more casting news rolls in.
