FIFA World Cup 2026: Will Neymar play tonight for Brazil vs Scotland? The World Cup Comeback We’ve All Been Waiting For!

Will Neymar play tonight for Brazil vs Scotland? The moment Brazilian football fans have been holding their breath for has arrived. After missing the first two group stage matches of the FIFA World Cup 2026, Neymar Jr has been officially cleared to feature against Scotland at Miami Stadium — and the footballing world is vibrating with anticipation.

The Injury That Almost Ended His World Cup Before It Began

Neymar’s injury concerns began after he clutched his leg during Santos’s 3-0 defeat against Coritiba in a Brasileiro Série A fixture on May 17. He was substituted immediately, and tests revealed a grade-two tear in his right calf muscle — effectively ruling him out of Brazil’s pre-tournament warm-up matches.

To make him available for the World Cup, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) agreed on a highly disciplined recovery program to efficiently fast-track his return to the pitch.

It worked. Neymar made a successful return to full first-team drills on Sunday — and the clearance came just in time.

Neymar vs Scotland — What to Expect

Manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Neymar Jr is fully cleared and available for the clash against Scotland. However, he is not certain to start — to avoid any further complications, he is expected to begin from the bench and gradually rebuild his match readiness.

What’s at Stake for Brazil

A victory over Scotland would guarantee Brazil a place in the Round of 32 and could also secure top spot in Group C. Even a draw would take the Seleção through. Brazil can still qualify even with a defeat, depending on other results in the group.

But this match has never really been just about qualification. It’s about Neymar — making his last World Cup mean something. The 34-year-old has spent months fighting to be on this stage. Tonight, against Scotland, his final dance on football’s grandest stage begins.
