What Is Saturn Return About?

The concept of a Saturn return — the astrological moment in your late 20s when Saturn completes its orbit and life often forces a reckoning — couldn’t be a more fitting title for this story. During their freshman year of college, Eve, Anders, and Nathan were the best of friends. Then Eve and Anders fell in love. Now, ten years later, they’re reuniting at his father’s funeral as virtual strangers. Told on two timelines, Saturn Return explores what was lost in between and what can still be found.

That dual-timeline structure alone signals this won’t be a typical Netflix romance — it’s got real emotional weight baked in from the start.

The Cast: Three Reasons to Be Excited

Charles Melton plays Anders. His notable credits include Riverdale, Warfare, and Netflix’s May December. He also recently played a lead role in the second season of Beef. He’s quietly one of the most versatile young actors working today.

Rachel Brosnahan plays Eve. Her first big streamer splash came via Netflix’s House of Cards, before going on to The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel for Prime Video. She recently starred as Lois Lane in James Gunn’s reboot of Superman. Having her anchor this film gives it serious credibility.

Will Poulter plays Nathan. His signature Netflix credit is Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, the interactive one-off that became a platform milestone. Other notable credits include We’re the Millers, The Maze Runner, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

The Team Behind It Is Equally Impressive

The film is being produced by Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, and Emily Wolfe for Plan B Entertainment — the Oscar-winning team behind films such as 12 Years a Slave and Moonlight. Director Greg Kwedar and writer Clint Bentley previously collaborated on the Oscar-nominated A24 film Sing Sing — so the pedigree here is real.

This isn’t a throwaway streaming movie. It has the kind of creative DNA that produces awards contenders.
