Oscar Mingueza’s contract extension has been confirmed, the La Masia graduate’s new deal runs until the end of June 2023. Additionally, the new contract includes a release clause that is valued at €100 million.
His fellow La Masia graduate, Riqui Puig is also set for an extension till 2023. The midfielder has not featured regularly under Ronald Koeman but has a very bright future ahead of him. And Barcelona will not be willing to let the temporary situation hamper the bigger picture.
At the end of the season, they will have a meeting with Ousmane Dembele to talk about his contract. Barcelona want to keep him, and will need to work on a new contract given that his current deal expires next year. Hence, he will be a free agent next summer if no new contract is agreed.
Juventus and Manchester United are scouting the player and will be interested in case any opportunity to sign him opens up. The main scenario where that plays out is if Dembele and Barcelona fail to reach an agreement, and the Blaugrana have to sell him to avoid risking him leaving as a free agent.
Elsewhere, Sergio Aguero is set to leave Manchester City at the end of the season and is pushing to join Barcelona. They won’t decide anything just yet and will wait to make a decision. Aguero is best friends with Leo Messi, and the two are roommates while on international duty. While Aguero is an option, alongside Memphis Depay, Barcelona will only decide on new transfers at the end of the season.
