Peddi — Key Details

“Thanks to Salman Khan and Aamir Khan” — Ram Charan’s Honest Tribute

Speaking at the Peddi trailer launch, Ram Charan said, “There was a huge spiritual journey behind this film. Physically too, it was very challenging. Thanks to Salman Khan and Aamir Khan for paving the path for us with movies like Sultan and Dangal. Those films gave us so much confidence, so thanks to both of them for starting this journey. We believed this genre had worked in the past, and we followed the same route. The transformation was inevitable. It had to be done because it is part of the story.”

It takes a certain humility and self-awareness for a star of Ram Charan’s stature to publicly acknowledge that — and it makes the pre-release excitement around Peddi feel even more genuine.

What Is Peddi Actually About?

Peddi is a sports-action drama that revolves around Peddi, a youngster who excels in cricket, wrestling, and sprinting, eventually becoming a legend in his village. As he rises to greatness, the man embarks on a journey of self-discovery and excellence.

The actor further stated that Peddi is a very sincere film and revolves around a man’s search for identity. He added that everyone needs some form of identity to navigate through life, and the story follows Peddi as he struggles with an identity crisis before eventually finding himself fighting for a much larger cause. That dual-layer of an underdog sports story fused with a deeply personal identity arc is exactly what made films like Dangal cultural phenomena — and Ram Charan seems acutely aware of the legacy he’s trying to carry forward.

Even Chiranjeevi Was Moved — Ram Charan’s Most Personal Film Yet

Charan said, “People of all ages will enjoy it. It is the most inspiring story I have done in my life. Even my dad saw portions of the film and told me, ‘For an actor to get a film like this, it takes a decade. Every year, you cannot get a Magadheera or an RRR. Relish every moment of this because you may not get a film like this again.’ Good films do not come easily, and this is one of those films that I want to preserve in my library forever.” LDShop

When Chiranjeevi tells his son a film is once-in-a-decade, that’s not just a father talking — that’s one of Telugu cinema’s all-time greats making a definitive statement about a project.
