Before the Crown, There Was a Prediction — Shah Rukh Khan Told a Journalist He Would Rule Bollywood Decades Ago

They call him the King of Bollywood — but what most people don’t know is that Shah Rukh Khan called it himself, long before the world believed it. In a stunning flashback moment, a veteran journalist has revealed that a young, struggling SRK sat across from him on a film set and declared his destiny out loud, with chilling clarity.

What Did Shah Rukh Khan Say?

Senior entertainment journalist Jyothi Venkatesh, in an exclusive conversation with Pinkvilla’s Hindi Rush, recalled a remarkable early encounter with Shah Rukh Khan. The two met on a film set when SRK invited the journalist to his room for dinner and a conversation — back when he was still finding his footing in the industry.

According to Venkatesh, the young actor was refreshingly blunt and undiplomatic. He shared two jaw-dropping things he told the journalist back then:

On dominating the industry: SRK declared he would rule Bollywood — said with complete conviction, not as a wish, but as a certainty.

On his vision for acting: He said he wanted to make films so emotionally powerful that mothers would see him as their son, wives would wish he were their husband, and children would want him as their father.

The Man Behind the Manifesto

Venkatesh was quick to clarify that SRK wasn’t being arrogant — he never said anything against others or put anyone down. He was simply direct, sincere, and had a rare, unshakeable self-belief that even journalists in the room could feel.

A Decade Later — Same SRK, Busier Schedule

When Venkatesh met Khan again nearly a decade after their first encounter, he found the same man — just more in demand. SRK reportedly told him that he no longer earned money from acting itself, but from brand endorsements, using that income to fund his lifestyle while reserving his craft for the biggest banners and directors.

That is, in its own way, the most SRK thing one could possibly say.

It’s a reminder that behind the charisma and the iconic poses, Bollywood‘s biggest star has always been quietly strategic — and deeply intentional about every move.
