Euphoria Season 3 Episode 3 Is the Most Chaotic TV Wedding Ever

The opulent ceremony unfolds at a luxurious venue with flower tunnels costing $50,000, lobster, caviar, champagne, and a massive “C&N” rose sign. It looks like a fairytale — but cracks appear before Cassie even reaches the altar.

Cassie’s mother walks her down the aisle and monologues about how bad her own marriage was, describing the moment before she joined Cassie’s dad at the altar as “the last happy moment I’d share with your father.” Cassie is in tears before she even says “I do.” Meanwhile, Nate is vomiting copiously in a shower as his groomsmen try to get him to rally. Maddy shows up in a revealing green number designed to pull focus, and Jules attends as Rue’s paid date — “I’m your sugar daddy now,” Rue jokes. The room is thick with history, tension, and bad decisions dressed in formal wear. TVLine

Euphoria S3 Episode Overview

Why Did Naz Attack Nate on His Wedding Night?

The reason behind the brutal beating stems directly from Nate’s massive unpaid debts to the loan shark Naz. Naz first shows up mid-ceremony, making it clear he intends to collect the $500,000 owed that very evening — especially now that he’s seen how much Nate is spending on food, flowers, and booze for the wedding guests.

During their choreographed first dance, Nate tries to reassure Cassie that everything is fine — that they might just have to “downsize a little.” Cassie’s response: “I don’t want to be poor,” she says, crying. TVLine

The confrontation happens directly afterward at the newlyweds’ residence. The argument escalates into a physical fight, leading to Nate being assaulted — and his pinky toe being cut off. This kind of debt-fuelled coercion is a classic loan shark escalation tactic, and Euphoria makes it viscerally, uncomfortably real.

The Ending Explained: Cassie’s Narcissism Takes Centre Stage

This is where the episode becomes darkly hilarious — and deeply telling about Cassie’s character. While the toe-cutting incident happens, Cassie cries about the blood ruining her make-up. She is ignorant of how hurt Nate is, and whines to Naz about her wedding day.

Sam Levinson deliberately redesigned the scene around Cassie’s psychology. “If we’re playing this on Cassie, what would her response be to Nate getting the crap beaten out of him? Well, she would start going, ‘This is my wedding. How could this happen to me?'” The result is Cassie wailing “This is so unfair” while Nate gets beaten up and down the staircase in the background.

“Cassie starts to learn and realize that Nate has been lying to her the entire time — everything’s crumbling around her,” Sydney Sweeney explained in a behind-the-scenes featurette.

Rue & Jules: The Other Big Storyline

The episode opens with a montage of Jules’ new life after dropping out of art school — narrated by Rue, it frames her entry into sugar-baby work as a modern Gold Rush opportunity for financial freedom. Rue, meanwhile, is tangled deeper in Alamo and Laurie’s criminal web, being ordered by Alamo to join a pickup at Laurie’s, with a plan hatched to destroy what Laurie loves most — Paladin, her parrot — hence the episode’s title.
