NTT DATA, a global provider of business and technology services, announced today the launch of its Software Defined Infrastructure (SDI) Services Agent. This new AI-powered conversational system aims to streamline the management of complex, multivendor IT infrastructure for large enterprises.

Embedded within NTT DATA’s existing SDI Services, the multi-agent platform is designed to act as an orchestrator across various IT domains, including networking, hybrid data centers, cybersecurity, and digital workplace environments. The system provides real-time visibility, predictive intelligence, and AI-driven actions, enabling natural language interaction with infrastructure.

The SDI Services Agent is engineered to enhance operational resilience, reduce costs, and accelerate business outcomes, while maintaining human oversight. A key differentiator highlighted by NTT DATA is its ability to operate across heterogeneous IT environments, unlike many single-vendor tools that are limited to specific ecosystems. Additionally, the agent integrates sustainability insights, assisting organizations in optimizing the environmental impact of their infrastructure.

Chris Barnard, Vice President at IDC, commented on the development, stating, “Traditional infrastructure services are increasingly out of step with the demands of an AI-driven enterprise. NTT DATA is differentiating itself through an innovative-first multivendor agentic service experience. Its AI-first approach enables infrastructure leaders to break out of traditional maintenance models and and focus on outcomes at scale.”

The introduction of the SDI Services Agent comes as enterprises increasingly invest in AI capabilities. According to NTT DATA’s Global AI Report, a significant portion of AI leaders (34.5%) are focusing on embedding AI into core applications.

Dilip Kumar, Global Head of Infrastructure Solutions at NTT DATA (https://services.global.ntt/en-us/), emphasized the strategic importance of the new offering. “As organizations accelerate AI adoption, a secure, enterprise-grade infrastructure foundation combined with conversational agentic service experience becomes a strategic business differentiator,” Kumar stated. “Our agentic SDI Services enable enterprises to move beyond ‘lights on’ operations and turn infrastructure performance into measurable outcomes.”

The system operates by analyzing live telemetry, historical context, and policy guardrails to execute actions, with human operators retaining ultimate control over day-to-day operations. This development represents an ongoing trend in enterprise technology to leverage artificial intelligence for more efficient and responsive IT operations.
