In a recent announcement, EA has announced that the regional beta for its mobile version of Apex Legends, and that the game will kick off later this month. EA announced that the game will only be available to “a few thousand players in India and the Philippines,” but the plan is to roll it out to more countries over the year.
The company announced that the beta game will not be a port of Apex Legends, but instead, it will be a new version built for smartphones. “Apex Legends Mobile is specially designed for touchscreens, with streamlined controls, and thoughtful optimizations that result in the most advanced battle royale combat available on a phone.”
The company also announced that the game will not feature any kind of cross-play or cross-progression. Similar to the PC and console versions of the game, Apex Legends will be free for mobile. It’s not just the mobile game of Apex Legends, but also the original game of the Apex Legends will get its latest season.
Season 9 of the game entitled “Legacy”, will be dropping next month, and we got our hands on some of the latest information about the game. Developers have unveiled their latest Legend, a smart-ass smuggler named Valkyrie, via a new animated short. The real name of the Valkyrie is Kairi Imahara, who grew up as the daughter of a famous Titan pilot, even stealing her dad’s ride at one point. Unfortunately, he eventually disappeared from her life, leaving her with a lot of questions.
We don’t know what the articles what the Valkyries powers are, but her key art and introductory short hint she’ll be able to fly and possibly control some sort of drone.

Apex Legends is available now on PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Switch, and is playable via backward compatibility on Xbox Series X/S and PS5. The Legacy update drops on May 4.
