Where Did the Season 6 Rumours Come From?

Let’s be honest — we’ve all been tempted to believe a tantalising headline. But the rumours of a sixth season appear to have originated entirely from Facebook pages, with no grounding in reality whatsoever. These posts have racked up thousands of likes and hundreds of thousands of impressions — some even employing AI-generated content to appear credible.

The operators of these pages are believed to be based in India and Indonesia, and their identities remain unknown — classic signs of engagement-bait accounts designed to go viral, not inform.

This is the same playbook used to falsely spread rumours about 365 Days Part 4 and The Queen’s Gambit Season 2. Don’t fall for it.

So, Is the Money Heist Universe Dead?

Not even close. The Money Heist world is very much alive — just without a Season 6 of the main show.

Netflix remains in business with Money Heist creator Alex Pina, whose overall deal with the streamer was renewed in 2022. Pina is currently believed to be developing an untitled series set in a luxury underground bunker during the pandemic.

Beyond that, the Berlin prequel series — focusing on the beloved character played by Pedro Alonso — launched as the first major Money Heist spin-off, with a second season also confirmed for a May 2026 release.

There are also Money Heist-themed mobile games in development — one via the Netflix Stories app and another standalone title being built by KillaSoft. The universe isn’t shrinking; it’s simply evolving beyond the original show’s storyline

Why There Won’t Be a Season 6

The main series concluded definitively with Season 5. All core character arcs were wrapped up — The Professor, Tokyo, Berlin, and the rest of the gang all got their endings, satisfying or heartbreaking as they were. Reviving the show would mean either recasting or retconning — neither of which Netflix appears interested in doing.

Money Heist remains one of Netflix’s most-watched international titles of all time, with Part 4 holding the record as the second most-watched non-English series ever — trailing only Squid Game. Its legacy is already cemented.
