IPL 2026 saw Sunrisers Hyderabad put on a clinical display on April 2, dismantling Kolkata Knight Riders by 65 runs in Match 6. Hyderabad’s bowlers were relentless — sharp, disciplined, and utterly suffocating. Kolkata’s batting lineup, expected to put up a fight, simply had no answer.

How Match 6 Unfolded: SRH’s Bowling Masterclass

Hyderabad batted first and posted a competitive total. Then they unleashed their bowlers, and Kolkata never got going. Wickets fell in clusters, the run rate spiraled, and the chase was dead in the water. As ESPNCricInfo noted, SRH’s pace-spin combination was the standout story of the evening. Their seamers and spinners worked in perfect tandem.

Kolkata were bowled out well short of the target, handing Hyderabad a dominant 65-run victory. It was the kind of performance that makes you sit up and take notice.

Why This IPL 2026 Result Signals a Bigger Problem for KKR

Here’s the thing — this wasn’t just one bad night for Kolkata. Their middle-order has been fragile for a while now, and what’s gone wrong for Varun Chakravarthy and KKR’s bowling unit is already drawing questions. But the batting collapse is the real alarm bell.

When a team loses by 65 runs in a T20, something structural is broken — not just bad luck. This loss suggests deeper issues in how Kolkata are approaching their innings construction and handling pressure situations.
