What Happened to the Vikram–Madonne Ashwin Film?
This one stings a little. Chiyaan Vikram had initially announced his 63rd film with Maaveeran director Madonne Ashwin, but the actor later revealed that his next project would instead be with debutant director Bodi Rajkumar.
Now, it appears the Vikram-Madonne collaboration has been shelved entirely. According to reports, Madonne Ashwin has narrated a script to Karthi, and the actor has reportedly responded positively. The upcoming film is said to be backed by Suriya under his Zhagaram Studios banner. Wikipedia
There’s even more excitement in the pipeline. Reports also suggest that Madonne Ashwin might collaborate with Sivakarthikeyan again for a future project — potentially a sequel to Maaveeran, though these remain unconfirmed speculations for now. Wikipedia
What Is Chiyaan Vikram Working on Now?
Despite the shelved collaboration, Vikram’s plate is anything but empty. The actor has indicated that over the past year he spent time listening to several scripts and has finalized four projects as part of his upcoming lineup. Wikipedia
His next film, Chiyaan63, will be directed by Bodi Rajkumar — a short filmmaker transitioning to Tamil feature cinema for the first time. Notably, this marks the first time in 23 years that Vikram is collaborating with a debut director, the last being Balaji Sakthivel for the 2003 film Samurai. Wikipedia That’s a big statement of confidence from one of Kollywood’s biggest stars.
Karthi’s Exciting Road Ahead
Karthi, who was last seen in Vaa Vaathiyaar, is currently working on the period actioner Marshal and is also expected to feature in Sardar 2. Wikipedia A potential Madonne Ashwin collaboration on top of that would make Karthi’s 2026-27 lineup one of the most exciting in Tamil cinema.
