As confirmed by Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc, the club is set to lose about €70-80 million due to the absence of fans this season. This financial crunch will be further aggravated if Dortmund fail to qualify for the Champions League next season since a top-four finish warrants considerable financial backing for clubs to prepare for the top flight of European competition.

The black and yellow club could be forced to sell either Erling Haaland or Jadon Sancho this summer if that becomes a reality. The Norwegian has been linked with a move away for the majority of the year, with clubs circling for his signature this summer itself.

While Dortmund have been adamant on trying to retain Haaland this summer, it is a matter of time before they eventually have to let him go. If not this summer, for a massive bid worth over €100 million, then surely in 2022 since his release clause worth €75 million comes into effect.

His agent, Mino Raiola and father, Alf Inge Haaland were in Spain a few weeks ago and were reportedly talking to Barcelona and Real Madrid regarding the project in place and their plans for the future of the squad.

Although Sancho’s performances have dropped this season, the Englishman is slowly getting back to his best. Manchester United were on the verge of capturing the player last summer and are expected to come back this year as well, and a fee worth €80 million could do the trick to sign the player and alleviate Dortmund’s financial burdens too.
