Despite the strong rumours linking Liverpool’s Gini Wijnaldum with a move to Barcelona, all the talk is just that, and nothing has been signed by Wijnaldum as of yet. That was confirmed by Fabrizio Romano on the Here We Go podcast, and the Italian has been regularly reporting on Wijnaldum’s situation.
Barcelona and former Netherlands national team manager Ronald Koeman appreciates the player and will be hoping for a reunion at Camp Nou. While nothing has been signed yet, talks are still taking place regarding a move as a free agent in the summer, when his contract with Liverpool expires.
The last proposal by Liverpool for the contract extension of the Dutch international was 3 years with the same salary. The player rejected the bid and said that he would wait and decide his future later in the season, potentially when it is over.
There are negative feelings and both Liverpool and Barcelona are waiting for the last decision, same offer as last year. So while they are interested in the player and are scouting him, and have also gone as far as contacting him and his agent, there is nothing final as of yet, and we will have to wait it out.
