What Went Wrong?
The opening weekend gave a flicker of hope — ₹27.50 crore in three days is a reasonable start. But the weekday drop was severe. Monday and Tuesday offered a brief ray of sunshine with surprise holds, fuelled partly by a BOGO (Buy One Get One) offer that artificially propped up the numbers. Wednesday killed the momentum, and the film has been bleeding since.
The 2nd Friday drop was sharper than expected, especially given that new releases Do Deewane Sheher Mein and Assi failed to pull significant footfalls away — O Romeo still had the most screens. That makes the sub-₹2 crore collection even more disappointing.
According to trade analysts, the film required ₹80–100 crore nett to be considered a breakeven hit given its production scale. At the current trajectory — a likely ₹50 crore by Sunday and a crawl toward ₹55–60 crore as the final lifetime — it falls drastically short.
The film is officially stamped FLOP.
Can It Recover?
Marginally. With no major Bollywood competition until Dhurandhar: The Revenge and Toxic hit theatres, O Romeo will continue to get screens by default. That gives it a lifeline to inch toward ₹60 crore nett — which, while better than dying at ₹50 crore, still doesn’t change the financial verdict for producers.
This was an expensive Bollywood romantic action film that simply didn’t connect widely enough with the audience to justify its budget.
